The Trenton Times reports the writing has been on the wall for more than a year, scribbled in ink every bit as bold as the kind used to sign his exorbitant paychecks. The DE Jevon Kearse era as a contributing member of the Eagles took an irreversible turn for the worse when his left knee twisted like a soft pretzel against the Giants on Sept. 17, 2006. Now, after being afforded every opportunity to revisit the form that resulted in three consecutive Pro Bowl appearances with the Tennessee Titans -- play that convinced the Eagles he was worth an eight-year, $66 million contract in 2004 that featured $16 million up front -- the jig is up for "The Freak." Bengals can't seem to get the running game on track

The Dayton Daily News reports the Bengals need to turn down the volume on the rap music in the locker room and crank up Jackson Browne's 1977 classic "Running On Empty." The song title represents the club's zip-zilch-nada rushing attack, which ranks 28th in the NFL at 86.3 yards a game. Head coach Marvin Lewis believes there's a cure for this ailment. The remedy lies in the trenches. "We have to be more physical at the point of attack," Lewis said. "We have to finish (blocks and runs). We have to get the right hats on the right people, keep our pads down and get after it. We have to roll up our sleeves and get dirty." Read more

Haynesworth sits out

The Nashville Tennessean reports DT Albert Haynesworth, who missed last Sunday's loss to the Jaguars due to a right hamstring injury, was one of five Titans who did not participate in a light practice Wednesday. Asked if he anticipated practicing today, Haynesworth shrugged. Read more
