Testaverde will start, but Smith may not

11/17/2007 8:55 AM The Charlotte Observer reports Carolina Panthers HC John Fox on Friday named Vinny Testaverde as his starting quarterback against Green Bay. But it's possible Testaverde might not have Carolina's top receiver Sunday. WR Steve Smith missed his third straight practice with a sore shin and is listed as questionable on the team's injury report. "It'll be a game-time decision, day to day," coach John Fox said of Smith. "It's still sore." Fox said Smith was injured Sunday against Atlanta. Read more

11/17/2007 8:53 AM The Arizona Republic reports CB Eric Green has a mild left ankle sprain and is questionable for Sunday's game. He wore a walking boot in Friday's practice, but coaches are hopeful that he can play. He is listed as questionable for Sunday's game. If Green can't play, CB Antrel Rolle will start. HC Ken Whisenhunt praised Rolle, the eighth pick in the 2005 draft, for improving this year. "I've been very impressed with his attention to detail and the way he's played," Whisenhunt said. "I feel very good that, if he had to play this weekend in a starting role, he would do a good job." Read more

Colts expect return of key starters

11/17/2007 8:48 AM The Indianapolis Star reports four Indianapolis Colts starters who missed last week's loss at San Diego with injuries practiced for the third consecutive day Friday. TE Dallas Clark, LB Freddy Keiaho and DT Raheem Brock are likely to play Sunday, when Kansas City visits the RCA Dome. Left OT Tony Ugoh's status is less clear. "Tony will get clearance from the doctor or not this weekend, but the other three guys I think will definitely be ready to go and they've been cleared and practiced well," coach Tony Dungy said. Texans' Green won't run against Saints

11/17/2007 8:44 AM The Houston Chronicle reports after two weeks of rest and rehabilitation, RB Ahman Green's knee isn't cooperating. The 30-year-old running back will spend another week sidelined. Green, who injured his knee during the season opener, has yet to play in a complete game this season. This will be the fourth time he is inactive, and Texans coach Gary Kubiak could not say for sure that Green will be healthy enough to play again this season. Read more
