Peterson return is unknown

The Florida Times-Union reports LB Mike Peterson will undergo surgery on his broken right hand, and the Jaguars offered no timetable on the middle linebacker's return. The injury is expected to take several weeks to heal, and coach Jack Del Rio said he did not want to make a prognosis until after the surgery. Read more

The Charlotte Observer reports Carolina WR Steve Smith missed the Green Bay game because of a bruised left shin, but is likely to play against New Orleans on Sunday. Timetable on Harrison's return remains uncertain

The Indianapolis Star reports Indianapolis Colts president Bill Polian said Monday that Pro Bowl WR Marvin Harrison's injured left knee is sound, stable and mechanically functional, describing it as a "minor sprain" along with a "pretty big blow" to the bursa sac. But until the inflammation recedes there is one thing to do: wait. "It's healing," Polian said. "Mother nature heals at her own rate." Read more
