Pittsburgh Steelers 11/21/2007 7:59 AMThe Post-Gazette reports the Steelers likely will be without two of their best starters when they play the Miami Dolphins Monday night at Heinz Field. SS Troy Polamalu joins WR Santonio Holmes on Mike Tomlin's doubtful list for the game. Polamalu has a sprained knee from the overtime loss Sunday against the New York Jets. Similar injuries kept WR Hines Ward and DE Aaron Smith out for two games this season. Holmes has a high ankle sprain, an injury that can linger and has kept players out for a month or so. CB Bryant McFadden missed three games this season with a high ankle sprain. Holmes is understood to have a mild version of the injury.Read more
Atlanta Falcons 11/21/2007 7:55 AMThe Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports Falcons coach Bobby Petrino's decision to reinstall Joey Harrington as the starting quarterback for Thursday's game against Indianapolis at the Georgia Dome was easy to make. QB Byron Leftwich, who started Sunday's 31-7 loss to TampaBay, suffered a tailbone injury against the Buccaneers and might not be healthy enough to play Thursday. Even if Leftwich is well enough to play, his inability to practice Tuesday was enough of a handicap to relegate him to backup status, Petrino said.Read more
Green Bay Packers 11/21/2007 7:52 AMThe Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports QB Brett Favre was asked in a conference call with Detroit writers whether he would be less likely to consider retirement after this season. "If last season gave me hope, if I felt optimistic after our Chicago game last year at 8-8 and not making the playoffs, then sure," Favre said. "Obviously I'd have to feel a little bit better (about coming back), especially individually. "If the season was over today, I could look in the mirror and say, 'You can play. You don't have to say I think I can. You know you can.' "Physically for the most part I feel fine. I don't feel like I do some of the things I used to do quite as well. I have to envision that next year that would be a little bit worse. There are a lot of factors, but as I said after the game the other day, I am enjoying the ride. It's been a lot of fun but I don't want to stop here."Read more
Cincinnati Bengals 11/21/2007 7:50 AMThe Dayton Daily News reports like a National League baseball manager heading into the late innings, Cincinnati Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis has pulled a double switch. Rookie CB Leon Hall has been installed as the starting left cornerback, replacing Deltha O'Neal, who has been relegated to nickel back. Meanwhile, DE Robert Geathers has returned to his natural left defensive end position, ending his four-game experiment at strong-side linebacker. "I just thought that the other two guys (Hall and right cornerback Johnathan Joseph) are doing what we need to be doing, and doing it better," Lewis said. "I like the rotation of things. We're able to dole out the snaps a little better. Deltha's done a great job where he is right now. We'll see where we go each week."Read more
