Raiders rookie RB Bush won't play this season

The Mercury News reports rookie RB Michael Bush spent the past three weeks practicing with his teammates for the first time. Wednesday, he was banished to another part of the Raiders' training facility reserved for those deemed unfit to play. Two fields away, running backs LaMont Jordan and Dominic Rhodes chatted before practice hit full stride. It's likely they weren't talking about long-term housing plans in the Bay Area. The longer the season goes, the stranger things get concerning Oakland's running-backs situation. Read more

Washington gets starting nod

The Post-Gazette reports offensive coordinator Bruce Arians said WR Nate Washington will start at split end in place of the injured WR Santonio Holmes and not WR Cedrick Wilson, who has been Holmes' backup. It also was Washington who got the nod to start when Holmes missed the Oct. 7 game against Seattle with a hamstring injury. Read more

Brown, Grant likely to return vs. Carolina

The Times-Picayune reports Saints OT Jammal Brown and DE Charles Grant fully participated in practice Wednesday, making it likely both will return to the field Sunday at Carolina. RB Reggie Bush, however, was limited in Wednesday's practice with a bruised left shin. Read more

Fox: Testaverde will start against Saints

The Charlotte Observer reports on the same day QB David Carr declared himself healthier than he's been in months, Carolina Panthers coach John Fox announced QB Vinny Testaverde will be the starting quarterback Sunday against the New Orleans Saints. "Right now, if everybody's healthy, Vinny will be the starter," Fox said. Health always might be an issue for Testaverde, 44, but Fox's announcement was out of character for a coach who has spent much of the season waiting until Sundays to make anything official. Read more
