Parker ready to turn it up another notch

The Post-Gazette reports something's wrong with Fast Willie Parker. Oh, he's still fast, so fast that tomorrow night he could reach 1,000 yards rushing, two games faster than he did last season. Yet there are grumblings that even though he leads the AFC with 925 yards rushing, second in the league only behind sensational but injured rookie Adrian Peterson of Minnesota, that there's just something missing from Parker and the Steelers ground game this season. The Dayton Daily News reports QB Carson Palmer, rebounding from his four-interception game against Arizona, threw three touchdown passes and was 32-of-38 for a career-best completion percentage of 84.2, breaking his previous mark of 81.8 (27-of-33) set at Tennessee in 2005. RB Rudi Johnson ran for 88 yards and scored his first rushing TD of the season. And WR Chad Johnson exorcised all his end-zone demons with one of the most memorable performances of his seven-year career. Read more

The Dayton Daily News reports QB Derek Anderson threw one touchdown pass each to WR Braylon Edwards and TE Kellen Winslow, RB Jamal Lewis ran like Bronko Nagurski and the defense played perhaps its best game Sunday as the Cleveland Browns soundly defeated the Houston Texans, 27-17. If the playoffs started today, the once-downtrodden Browns, now 7-4, would be an AFC wild card, along with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Not that anyone's talking playoffs. "I don't know anything about that," said Lewis, who bulled his way to 134 yards on 29 carries and scored the clinching TD on a 1-yard run with 5:48 remaining. Lynch has high ankle sprain

The Buffalo News reports it looks like the Buffalo Bills will be without rookie RB Marshawn Lynch for a second straight game. Coach Dick Jauron finally confirmed that Lynch has a high left ankle sprain. That injury sidelined linebacker Keith Ellison for the first four games of this season and put CB Ashton Youboty on the shelf for five games. It’s not known if Lynch’s sprain is as severe. Read more
