Haynesworth says attitude to blame

The Nashville Tennessean reports with DT Albert Haynesworth in the lineup, the Titans were 6-2 and allowed about 67 rushing yards per game. Without him they're 0-3 and have allowed an average of 160 rushing yards per game. An injured hamstring kept Haynesworth out of uniform Sunday for the third game in a row, but after watching the 35-6 loss to the Bengals from the sideline, he said his absence isn't the problem. "It ain't got nothing to do with me," Haynesworth said. "I think it is an attitude thing. You watch the first eight games and we played with a serious attitude. We dominated, pushed people around. And now we are just out there to be out there. I don't think we have that same identity, the same attitude we did at the first of the season.'' Read more

The Florida Times-Union reports LB Justin Durant was thankful the action came his way quickly in the Jaguars' 36-14 victory over the Buffalo Bills on Sunday at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium. "It's always good to get involved early," said the rookie outside linebacker from Hampton, who was essentially the replacement for injured middle LB Mike Peterson in making his first start since Sept. 23 at Denver. Sherman officially hired as A&M head coach

The Houston Chronicle reports just three days after getting rid of Dennis Franchione, Texas A&M introduced Texans offensive coordinator Mike Sherman as its new football coach Monday. Sherman likely will remain with the Texans through the end of their season and join the Aggies full-time early in 2008. Read more

Redskins' Taylor shot and wounded at home

ESPN.com reports Washington Redskins star S Sean Taylor was shot at his home Monday and was in critical condition, and police are investigating a possible robbery. Officers were sent to Taylor's home at about 1:45 a.m. after his girlfriend called 911 and said he was shot in his lower body, Lt. Nancy Perez said. He was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital, she said, but did not disclose how many times he was shot. Read more
