Rams place Tinoisamoa on IR

11/28/2007 3:06 AM The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports the Rams placed have LB Pisa Tinoisamoa (knee) on the season-ending injured reserve list. QB Brock Berlin was promoted from the practice squad to Tinoisamoa's roster spot. Also, OL Jeremy Parquet was released from the practice squad. Read more

Turley steps up for retired players

11/28/2007 3:04 AM The Kansas City Star reports Chiefs OT Kyle Turley has taken the first step among active NFL players to help retired players in need of financial assistance. Turley announced Tuesday that he will donate his game check from the Chiefs’ game at Detroit on Dec. 23 to the Gridiron Greats Assistance Fund, which provides medical aid and social services to scores of retired NFL players. Turley, a nine-year veteran, is urging his fellow players to do the same, and Dec. 23 has been designated by as “Gridiron Guardian Sunday” for those donating game checks to Gridiron Greats, the organization that is overseen by Hall of Famers Mike Ditka, Gale Sayers and other NFL retirees. Colts still hopeful on Harrison

11/27/2007 10:13 AM The Indianapolis Star reports Colts coach Tony Dungy repeated the team's expectation that eight-time Pro Bowl WR Marvin Harrison could return for Sunday's AFC South showdown vs. Jacksonville after missing six of seven games with a bruised left knee. "It's hard to say," Dungy said Monday. "That's what we're hoping, that Marvin will be back and ready to go and practice. If he's able to do that and play, that will be a big lift to us." Read more

Chiefs plan to sign kicker Carney

11/27/2007 10:11 AM The Kansas City Star reports determined to solve their field-goal problem, the Chiefs turned to one of the NFL’s most prolific kickers for help. They planned today to sign 43-year-old John Carney, who is third on the NFL’s all-time field-goal list. Carney began his NFL career with Tampa Bay in 1988 and has also kicked for the LA Rams, Chargers, Saints and, earlier this year, Jaguars. Read more
