Harrison’s talk not cheap

The Boston Herald reports Patriots S Rodney Harrison was fined $5,000 yesterday for unsportsmanlike conduct in Monday night’s 27-24 win over the Baltimore Ravens. According to AFC spokesman Corry Rush, the fine was the result of Harrison unnecessarily taunting Ravens coach Brian Billick following an interception return by James Sanders. Cameras caught Harrison’s exchange with Billick, who blew several kisses in return. Read more

Cotchery casts fate to a cast

The Star-Ledger reports WR Jerricho Cotchery practiced on a limited basis yesterday and the wide receiver likely will be a game-time decision tomorrow when the Jets play the Cleveland Browns at Giants Stadium. As first reported in The Star-Ledger, the Jets were awaiting a specially designed cast for Cotchery's broken right index finger that would allow him to play. It is believed that the cast arrived yesterday and Cotchery was able to practice, although he wasn't on the field during the first 30 minutes of practice when the media are allowed to watch. He's listed as doubtful. Read more

McNabb, Thomas to be reunited

The Trenton Times reports OT Tra Thomas has been to three Pro Bowls and will have earned close to $50 million over his career should the Eagles left tackle and protector of QB Donovan McNabb's blindside play out the final year of his contract at $5.7 million in 2008. Yet, even with the recognition of his peers and a comfortable bankroll, the team's first-round pick (11th overall) out of Florida State in 1998 was never more ap preciated than on Sept. 30 at the Meadowlands, when he was scratched from the lineup with a sprained knee ligament. The fallout was disastrous as his replacement, inexperienced second-year pro OT Winston Justice, be came the gateway that allowed the Giants to sack McNabb a fran chise-record 12 times, including six by DE Osi Umenyiora. Newman says Kitna comment was a joke

The Star-Telegram reports Cowboys CB Terence Newman didn't back off his comments made on Sirius Satellite radio this week about going after Detroit QB Jon Kitna. But Friday he said the comments were in fun and not designed to be taken quite so literally. "I was really making more a joke out of it," Newman said. "I think I've blitzed maybe four times this year. It's not, 'Oh, I'm going to take his head off.' I was trying to be funny." The NFL didn't think it was too funny, as it sent a letter to him to warn him about such comments. Read more
