The Denver Post reports the two-year extension LB Jamie Winborn signed Wednesday was filed with the NFL on Thursday. Winborn is scheduled to receive about $1.6 million in salary and about $1.4 million in roster bonuses the next two seasons. He played extensively at weakside linebacker Thursday after Ian Gold was hurt. Winborn, a special-teams ace, likely will get an opportunity to compete for a starting job in training camp in 2008. The Denver Post reports Broncos RB Travis Henry is going to work hard in the final two games of the season. Yet he admitted after Thursday night's game against Houston that he likely won't be at full strength. He suffered a partially torn posterior cruciate ligament in his left knee Nov. 3 at Detroit. The Houston Chronicle reports DE Mario Williams showed why he deserves his first invitation. The second-year defensive end sacked Jay Cutler three times by himself and was credited with another half-sack. He now has 13 sacks this season, making him the first Texans player to reach double digits in sacks in a season. He has 17 for his career, which surpasses the previous team record for career sacks held by former LB Kailee Wong (15). Read more

Anderson, Nike assist Oregon's flood victims

The Akron Beacon Journal reports Cleveland Browns quarterback Derek Anderson did more than listen when he heard of the devastating floods near his hometown of Scappoose, Ore., last week. Anderson contacted his representative at Nike and persuaded the shoe and apparel giant to donate $50,000 worth of clothing to the victims. "I talked to one of my coaches back home; he said the food banks were trying to do stuff," Anderson said. "I'm just trying to help out a little bit." Read more
