The Arizona Republic reports RB Edgerrin James' 84 rushing yards boosted his season total to 1,052, the second consecutive season he had surpassed the 1,000-yard mark. He is the first Cardinals running back to do that since Ottis Anderson in 1983 and '84. James wasn't exactly scheduling a celebration after the game. "Getting to 1,000 yards rushing for a season doesn't mean anything when you lose," he said. "That's all I'm going to say about that." Read more

The official website of the Senior Bowl reports a pair of first-team All-SEC performers and top NFL Draft prospects – DE Quentin Groves and DB Patrick Lee – will represent Auburn University in the 2008 Under Armour Senior Bowl, bowl officials have announced. Read more

Gonzalez shows he learns from mistakes

The Indianapolis Star reports Indianapolis Colts rookie WR Anthony Gonzalez was a hot target again in Sunday's 21-14 victory at Oakland, but the first-round selection's adjustment to an early mistake enabled him to catch the game-winning touchdown pass late in the fourth quarter. QB Peyton Manning threw a "back shoulder" pass early that Gonzalez didn't adjust to catch. "Going down their sideline, we tried it and I wasn't ready for it," Gonzalez said. "We came off and (Manning) said, 'Be alert for the back shoulder.' When it came up again, it was just a matter of being ready for it." Read more

Panthers owner weighing options

The Charlotte Observer reports the last time he spoke publicly was during August when Jerry Richardson was telling DE Julius Peppers to make the Carolina Panthers his team. The next time Richardson speaks to the masses, he might be announcing the Panthers are no longer coach John Fox's team. A second consecutive non-winning season has fueled speculation that Fox and GM Marty Hurney, who are believed to be a package deal, could be fired. Read more
