San Francisco 49ers 12/18/2007 8:41 AMThe Mercury News reports soon after QB Shaun Hill led the 49ers past the Cincinnati Bengals in his first NFL start Saturday night, the quarterback's agent said his mobile phone lit up with a congratulatory text message. It was from Director of Football Operations Paraag Marathe, who also serves as the 49ers' chief contract negotiator. "You'd be surprised how infrequently that happens," Robert Lattinville said Monday. "I was impressed with that gesture, and so was Shaun. Very classy, I think, just wonderful." That Lattinville and Marathe have solid communication bodes well for any future talks between the 49ers and Hill, who is headed for free agency after the season.Read more
Washington Redskins 12/18/2007 8:39 AMThe Washington Post reports the Washington Redskins will have to continue their playoff push without another starting player, after LB Rocky McIntosh tore two major knee ligaments in Sunday's 22-10 win over New York at Giants Stadium. McIntosh, in his first season as a starter, was making great strides, and his loss is another blow for a defense trying to overcome a spate of injuries and coping with the death of S Sean Taylor. New Orleans Saints 12/18/2007 8:33 AMThe Times-Picayune reports RB Reggie Bush will return to practice this week in hopes of playing Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles. The Saints' tailback is still considered questionable for Sunday's game. And the team will no doubt try and keep the Eagles and the media guessing about Bush's health status throughout the week.
