Injuries could sideline Rice and Winfield

Minnesota Vikings
12/19/2007 7:53 AM
The Pioneer Press reports Vikings coach Brad Childress didn't rule out WR Sidney Rice or CB Antoine Winfield from Sunday's game against the Washington Redskins. But he acknowledged their status is "uncertain right now," casting doubt on their availability during a short week.  Rice has a sprained ankle, and Winfield has a pectoral strain. Taylor selected to Pro Bowl

Miami Dolphins
12/19/2007 7:51 AM
The Palm Beach Post reports Miami Dolphins DE Jason Taylor was named to the Pro Bowl for the sixth time, this year as a reserve, despite an inconsistent season for a 1-13 team. This year was not one of Taylor's better seasons. He had six games with three or fewer tackles and seven games without a sack. But Taylor still has 10 sacks, including two in Sunday's win against Baltimore, and four forced fumbles. He returned an interception 36 yards for a touchdown against New England to set the NFL record for most touchdowns (eight) by a defensive lineman. Taylor was the only player from Florida's three NFL teams to be selected; NFC South champion Tampa Bay and AFC wild-card leader Jacksonville were both shut out, as were the New York Jets, Atlanta, Carolina, Detroit and New Orleans. T.J. can't explain team's red zone woes

Cincinnati Bengals
12/19/2007 7:48 AM
The Dayton Daily News reports WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh has no answers for the Bengals' red zone problems. He's caught a team-high 11 touchdown passes this year, but just one in the past six games and none in the last four. The drought is a sign that opponents have adjusted to the first time Pro Bowler, who is quarterback Carson Palmer's favorite receiver inside the enemy's 20-yard line. An example came on Saturday night in San Francisco when Palmer forced a pass to Houshmandzadeh — who was triple-covered at the goal line — that fell incomplete. "Everyone assumes it's going to be me (catching the TDs)," Houshmandzadeh said. "A lot of times, you can't just always go to the same guy in certain situations. I think we should just try to get other people involved." Read more
