DE Abraham returns to practice

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports DE John Abraham returned to practice on Thursday and participated in most of the drills. He suffered an injury to his left knee in the third quarter against Tampa Bay in last week's loss. It was severe enough for the Falcons to take a MRI exam. The results did not reveal any structural damage. Read more

Bruce adds to legacy by having a big night

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports if Thursday was WR Isaac Bruce’s final home game as a Ram, he went out in style. With an 8-yard catch with 9 minutes, 53 seconds remaining in the second quarter, Bruce passed Hall of Famer James Lofton for third-place on the NFL’s career list for reception yards. Lofton had 14,004 yards. After catching seven passes for 87 yards against Pittsburgh, Bruce has 14,070 yards. “I’m very grateful,” Bruce said following the Rams’ 41-24 loss. “I thank God for it. He’s been with me through this long run. I thank every quarterback that I’ve played with in this league, especially Marc Bulger, who made it happen for me (Thursday). Read more

Fibula injury ends Parker's year

The Post-Gazette reports RB Willie Parker, the NFL's leading rusher, has a fractured right fibula and is done for the season. Parker's injury occurred on his first carry of the game, and there were unconfirmed reports that his foot got caught in the artificial turf at the Edward Jones Dome. The fibula runs from the knee to the ankle and is the smaller of the two bones in the lower leg. Read more

Browns' Smith 'really wants to sack' Palmer

The Dayton Daily News reports along with paying the Browns a few compliments this week, Cincinnati Bengals QB Carson Palmer poked fun at former teammate Shaun Smith, now a Browns defensive lineman. "He's definitely looking hefty," Palmer said. "I know he hasn't turned down too many meals." If the 6-foot-2, 330-pound Smith has his way, Palmer will regret those remarks Sunday when the teams meet at Paul Brown Stadium. "It shocked me at first, because Carson is not a guy who really talks," Smith said Thursday. "I'm going to bother him, be a pest. I really want to sack him. If I do, I might lay on him and take the 15 yards. "After I hit him a couple of times, he'll be quiet." Read more
