Atlanta Falcons 12/25/2007 8:09 AMThe Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports in this most unusual of seasons, the Falcons can pull off a major victory with one final loss Sunday against Seattle: the No. 2 pick in the NFL draft. A Falcons loss coupled with victories by St. Louis and the New York Jets will land them that second pick. Arizona kicker Neil Rackers' 31-yard field goal Sunday in overtime defeated the Falcons 30-27 and kept Atlanta in the hunt for the No. 2 pick in the NFL draft. The 1-14 Dolphins wrapped up the No. 1 pick with their 28-7 loss to the Patriots. Atlanta (3-12) is tied with St. Louis and the New York Jets for the second-worst record in the league. The easiest way for the Falcons to win the No. 2 pick is to lose to Seattle and have the Jets beat the Chiefs and the Rams beat the Cardinals.Read more
Miami Dolphins 12/25/2007 8:06 AMThe Palm Beach Post reports with a full weekend to digest the dramatic development and six days until the next kickoff, Dolphins coach Cam Cameron still refused Monday to entertain questions about his new boss. In four news conferences since Bill Parcells became executive vice president of football operations last week, Cameron has not mentioned Parcells by name and declined to indulge the simplest of questions about the former coach who won two Super Bowls with the New York Giants. Cameron on Monday awkwardly deflected 10 questions about Parcells without directly referring to him and continually tried to steer the discussion to Sunday's season finale against the Cincinnati Bengals in Dolphin Stadium.Read more
Cincinnati Bengals 12/25/2007 8:03 AMThe Dayton Daily News reports RB Kenny Watson answered every one of his critics who said he's not durable enough to carry the football 20 to 25 times a game. The sixth-year tailback from PennState rushed 30 times for 130 yards and a 1-yard touchdown in the Bengals' 19-14 victory over Cleveland on Sunday â his fourth career 100-yard game that stole the spotlight from the Browns' RB Jamal Lewis (21 carries, 92 yards). "It's important for me to show that (durability and production)," said Watson, who pushed his season totals to 694 yards on 157 carries (4.4-yard average) and six TDs. "I take pride in whatever they call upon me to do. I do it and try to do it well. "Every time you step on the field, you want to show everything you can â special teams, running back, whatever I'm doing."Read more
