New York Jets 12/25/2007 8:47 AMThe Star-Ledger reports Jets WR Laveranues Coles, who is on the injured reserve list with a high ankle sprain, said he wants to return to the club if both sides can reach an agreement on renegotiating his contract. He said there have already been preliminary discussions. Coles, an eighth-year pro, is scheduled to earn a $5 million base salary in 2008 and $6 million in 2009. But neither year is guaranteed and the Jets could cut Coles at any time.Read more
Chicago Bears 12/25/2007 8:45 AMThe Chicago Sun-Times reports plenty of positives came out of the special-teams-driven 35-7 victory Sunday over the Green Bay Packers (12-3) that knocked the NFC North champions out of contention for the conference's top playoff seed. However, the disappointments to a 2007 gone wrong continued as DE Mark Anderson was placed on injured reserve. Anderson's left knee was injured when Minnesota Vikings RB Chester Taylor cut-blocked him in the game Dec. 17 at Minnesota. Anderson becomes the ninth player to be put on IR during the season.Read more
