Bryant, Avril to play in Senior Bowl

The official website of the Senior Bowl reports Wednesday’s Motor City Bowl match-up will feature a pair of highly-rated NFL Draft prospects and All-Big Ten stars from Purdue – record-setting WR Dorien Bryant and DE Cliff Avril -- who will also suit up for the North squad in the 2008 Under Armour Senior Bowl, officials have announced. Adrian Peterson could get free rein against Broncos D

The Pioneer Press reports for RB Adrian Peterson, running room and yards have been hard to come by in the past three games, but the Vikings' star rookie still has a chance to close the season with a rush.  Stifled by a steady diet of stacked defenses, Peterson will be operating Sunday against a Denver Broncos unit that ranks 30th in the NFL against the run and was gashed for 107 yards in 2½ quarters by San Diego's LaDainian Tomlinson in a 23-3 loss Monday night. That could be just what the doctor ordered for Peterson, who has rushed for only 108 yards in three games after getting 1,197 in his first 10 and sounded almost wistful after Sunday night's 32-21 loss to Washington when he said, "I can't remember the last time I saw a seven-man front." McNabb playing like a keeper

The Trenton Times reports if seeing was believing Sunday against the New Orleans Saints at the Superdome, then maybe Eagles head coach Andy Reid, team president Joe Banner and QB Donovan McNabb are on the same page after all. Holding onto the 31-year-old McNabb, whose contract runs through 2010, for at least another year is looking more and more likely. The pressure may have been off the Birds (7-8) since being eliminated from the playoffs Dec. 17, but the heat never seems to steer clear of McNabb, who completed 24 of his 35 attempts for 263 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in a 38-23 win over the Saints.
