Browns, 49ers game has a 'strange' feel to it

The Dayton Daily News reports the Cleveland Browns can make the playoffs Sunday, but their home game against the San Francisco 49ers probably won't have anything to do with it. Yes, it's going to be an unusual day. "Strange," mused DL Shaun Smith. "I have faith we'll be in. Everything's been bouncing in our favor and I think it'll bounce in our favor again." Not until late Sunday evening, when the Tennessee Titans conclude their 8 p.m. nationally televised business with the Indianapolis Colts, will the Browns learn whether they will be working the next day or cleaning out their lockers. Bengals roster moves

The Cincinnati Bengals have placed HB DeDe Dorsey, C Eric Ghiaciuc and FS Madieu Williams on the Reserve/Injured list. In last week’s game against Cleveland, Dorsey suffered a high ankle sprain and Ghiaciuc suffered a foot sprain. Williams re-aggravated a quad injury during practice on Dec. 20. Read more

Panthers place DE Peppers on IR

AP reports DE Julius Peppers' disappointing season is over. The Carolina Panthers placed the defensive end on injured reserve Wednesday with a sprained medial collateral ligament in his right knee. The injury forced Peppers to miss Saturday's loss to Dallas, ending his consecutive games streak at 78. Peppers finished with only three sacks in 14 games, ending a streak of three straight years with at least 10½ sacks. He was not elected to the Pro Bowl for the first time since 2003. Read more
