Baltimore Ravens 12/27/2007 6:45 AMThe Baltimore Sun reports when practice began yesterday at the Ravens training facility in Owings Mills, the special teams unit took the indoor field without RB Musa Smith. Normally a key contributor on special teams, Smith did not participate in that unit's practice because of his newest status: starting running back. With starter Willis McGahee (cracked ribs) ruled out and backup RB Mike Anderson suffering from a hamstring injury, coach Brian Billick said Smith would make his first career start at running back Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers at M&T Bank Stadium.Read more
Pittsburgh Steelers 12/27/2007 6:42 AMThe Post-Gazette reports in the days after the Steelers disposed of Baltimore in Week 9, and Steelers WR Hines Ward threw a devastating block on Ravens LB Bart Scott, Scott told the Baltimore Sun that he threatened to kill Ward. At the time, Scott also said, "I threatened him. If I see him again, I'm going to threaten him again." Asked if there is a carryover effect leading into this week's game, Ward said, "In my opinion, there is none. I'm not worried about Bart Scott." Tennessee Titans 12/27/2007 6:40 AMThe Nashville Tennessean reports C Kevin Mawae appeared to aggravate an injury and DT Albert Haynesworth was one of seven other Titans who sat out Wednesday's practice. Mawae, who did not play last week against the Jets, was not available to the media. Coach Jeff Fisher said he had "no different opinion" on the veteran center's status for Sunday's game at Indianapolis.Read more
