The Mercury News reports QB Shaun Hill won't get the chance to put the finishing touch on his run of success as the 49ers' quarterback. Hill was injured more seriously than reported and won't play in the season finale Sunday at Cleveland, Coach Mike Nolan said Friday. QB Chris Weinke, who was out of football before joining the 49ers three weeks ago, will start. Dallas Cowboys

The Star-Telegram reports all systems are go for WR Terry Glenn's season debut Sunday -- that is, if the weather holds up. Minnesota Vikings

The Pioneer Press reports with the possible exception of CB Antoine Winfield, the Vikings are expected to be close to full strength Sunday for their regular-season finale at Denver. DT Pat Williams returned to practice Friday after getting two days off to rest a sore knee and elbow and said he's good to go. "I'm playing," Williams said. Officially, he's listed as questionable, as is WR Sidney Rice, who said his injured right ankle shouldn't be a problem. "I practiced all week, so I should be ready," Rice said. That leaves Winfield, who has practiced on a limited basis with a harness to protect his left shoulder. His status will be a game-time decision again this week. Winfield said he will test the shoulder during warm-ups, and the decision on whether he plays again will rest on his ability to tackle. Read more
