Phillips said the linebacker was given a chance in the preseason finale at Minnesota and didn't play well. San Diego Chargers 12/30/2007 11:10 AMThe San Diego Union-Tribune reports RB LaDainian Tomlinson begins today leading the NFL rushing race by 113 yards over RB Adrian Peterson and 127 yards over RB Brian Westbrook. The Raiders have allowed a league-worst 4.9 yards per carry this season, although it should be noted that in their past three home games, they yielded 78, 86 and 58 yards, with an average per carry of 2.7. Then again, this is Tomlinson, and this is Oakland, where LT's career average (six games) is 140.5 yards and his worst game in the past five seasons was 131. He had 198 yards and four TDs when these teams played in October in San Diego.Read more
Seattle Seahawks 12/29/2007 9:28 AMThe Seattle Times reports Seahawks QB Matt Hasselbeck, who needs just 23 yards to set the franchise season mark of 3,842 passing yards, will start Sunday. He set the record of 3,841 yards in 2003. Hasselbeck isn't likely to play the entire game, based on observations from practice and how many snaps some of the backups got this week. But he should play enough to set the record.Read more
