Colts lose Simon for rest of season

The Indianapolis Star reports DT Corey Simon's season is over and his playing future uncertain because of an unspecified illness unrelated to his knee injury. Indianapolis Colts president Bill Polian announced Thursday that the team's veteran defensive tackle was placed on the NFL's non-football illness/injury list, ending his season. Citing Simon's privacy and federal medical privacy laws, the team did not elaborate on the nature of the illness other than to insist it was "not football-related.'' "Fortunately, we are told it is not life-threatening, but it has severely limited Corey's ability to condition, practice or play and has been debilitating for him,'' Polian said in a statement released by the team.
