Wake Forest WR Moore perfect fit for Browns

The Cleveland Browns offense had some major success throwing the ball this past season finishing the year ranked No. 12 in passing with three members of the receiving corp WR Braylon Edwards, TE Kellen Winslow and KR/WR Joshua Cribbs earning trips to the Pro Bowl. Cribbs earned the trip in large part for his contribution on special-teams.

Although the Browns have one of the most feared receiving corps in the league there is still room for improvement and that comes at the slot receiver position. The Tim Carter experience could be over after one season and 2006 third-round pick WR Travis Wilson has spent more time on the sideline than on the playing field. The Browns are expected to address the slot position via the draft.

Insert Wake Forest WR Kenny Moore.

The 5-foot-11 200-pound receiver may be one of the most intriguing prospects entering this year's draft due to his outstanding ability and versatility. Moore set the ACC record for receptions in a season in 2007 by catching 98 passes. A record previously held by St. Louis Rams future Hall of Fame WR Torry Holt, who caught 88 passes in a single-season. What makes Moore's record-breaking accomplishment more astonishing is that he achieved the goal playing in an offense not known for its passing game.

Moore was very humble when asked about breaking Holt's record.

"It's something that I never thought about at the beginning of the year," he said. "I was more worried about our team record rather than that one. When I found out I was approaching the record I thought that it would be a great accomplishment for me. To be mentioned in the same breath as Torry Holt is a great feeling for me."

Moore finished the '07 season with 1,011 yards receiving and five touchdowns. He became only the third Wake player in history to surpass the 1,000-yard mark in receiving yardage. Moore tacked on an additional 316 yards rushing and three touchdowns for good measure.

Moore put up some phenomenal numbers his senior year, but hasn't received as much credibility as some of his counterparts. Knowing that, he heads to the Combine with something to prove to NFL scouts.

"I want to show scouts that I am a polished receiver who can get the job done the best," Moore said. "I feel like if I would have gone to a bigger school there would be no question and I would have gotten a little more respect. I just want to show that I did a great job coming out of Wake Forest. The invite to the Combine is gratifying and a great opportunity for me to showcase my talents in front of everybody."

Moore is on a mission to prove to teams that he's all that and a bag of Cool Ranch Doritos. Forget the chips!

Big C's scouting report:

Moore is described as a Wes Welker type-receiver due to his dynamic ability to make big things happen on short plays. He may be at his best running quick routes and screens, but does have the ability to break loose in the field. He's an exceptional runner after the catch and creative in the open-field. This makes him perfect for a Browns offense that needs to develop a consistent short-to-intermediate passing game. Moore would pose as a viable threat underneath and over the middle. He's a well-built receiver who is not afraid to catch passes over the middle and has the hands of a kleptomaniac, sticky fingers. Moore's speed has come into question, but he is looking to address that matter when he runs the 40-yard dash at the Combine.
