Cincinnati Bengals
08/28/2006 10:29 AM
The Dayton Daily News reports it's inevitable that Cincinnati Bengals QB Carson Palmer is going to get hit. But head coach Marvin Lewis is convinced Palmer will get back up when he's knocked down. Once that happens, WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh can breathe a little easier. "We want to keep the quarterback clean," Lewis said. "The quarterback is going to get touched. He was healthy, and Marinelli acknowledged that Williams hadn't broken any team rules. After Friday's game, Marinelli addressed the decision not to play Williams by saying: "guys earn their time in practice." On Sunday, Marinelli reiterated that statement, saying: "So much is reflected sometimes off of practice." Read more

Minnesota Vikings
08/28/2006 10:09 AM
The Pioneer Press reports Vikings coach Brad Childress suggested DB Dwight Smith's citation for indecent conduct early Saturday "marred" the team's 30-7 exhibition victory over the Baltimore Ravens on Friday night at the Metrodome. "We did a ton of good things on (Friday) night, and those good things, unfortunately, get marred when somebody in our organization misbehaves, if you will," Childress said. "I want everybody to know that we are committed in this Vikings organization — myself, our staff, our football team, our organization — to doing things the right way. That is one of the things that I've been charged with, and I'm disappointed when we are able to be judged outside of those white lines that we work so hard to prepare for." Read more
