08/28/2006 10:48 AM The Palm Beach Post reports as the Dolphins prepare to make their first wave of cuts Tuesday, don't expect to see WR Marcus Vick among those in need of a new employer. Required by the league to trim the roster to 75 players, HC Nick Saban's comments about Vick on Sunday made it clear the team remains optimistic about his development. Final rosters must be down to 53 players by Saturday. Saban said the team would like to develop Vick into a quarterback but that the goal has been difficult to achieve early because of the need to get four other QBs the proper amount of repetitions.
08/28/2006 10:42 AM The Star-Telegram reports the Cowboys have been patient while WR Terrell Owens has been sidelined for much of the last month with a sore hamstring. They watched him toy with the media during training camp, mocking his rehab work on a stationary bike while wearing a Tour de France jersey and a cycling helmet. And they accept that he might not make his Cowboys debut until the season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sept. 10 because of continuing problems with the hamstring. But when Owens missed a rehabilitation session, a team meeting and was late for a meeting of the offensive unit Friday, the Cowboys finally had enough, fining the sidelined receiver $9,500, according to team sources.
