Rushing defense better, but still soft
Cleveland Browns11/24/2006 7:42 AM The Dayton Daily News reports they must contend with Cincinnati's multi-faceted â and rolling â offense Sunday, but it would help if the Cleveland Browns actually could stop the run a little more consistently. They held Willie Parker to 46 yards on 16 carries in Sunday's 24-20 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, but then had no answer for QB Ben Roethlisberger as he made play after play in the fourth quarter. "You can say we improved (against the run), but the numbers go against that overall when you look at the big picture," HC Romeo Crennel said. He's right. The Browns rank 28th against the run, giving up an average of 137 yards per game and 4.8 yards per carry. "The run defense was kind of like the game last Sunday," Crennel said. "We held them down for three quarters and then they break out in one quarter." Read more
