Lewis says Bengals didn't quit
Cincinnati Bengals11/14/2006 8:15 AM The Dayton Daily News reports HC Marvin Lewis dismissed any notion that the Cincinnati Bengals quit playing hard Sunday in a 49-41 loss to the San Diego Chargers. He took responsibility for the defeat on Monday, but held the players accountable for yielding 42 second-half points â the most allowed in a half in club history. Lewis also said "some subtle changes" will be made for this Sunday's game at New Orleans. "No, this team didn't quit at all, in any phase," Lewis said. "Did we not make plays? Yes. But we didn't quit. I'm responsible for the team, so it stops here. At some point, players have to take responsibility to get their job done. It comes down to the player being consistent with it." Calling Chuck Bresnahan "a good defensive coordinator," DE Justin Smith blamed the players for the meltdown. Read more
