Big bonus, little return for Jonathan Fanene

The Boston Globe reports Jonathan Fanene was signed by the Patriots as a free agent in March, brought in to add depth and versatility to the defensive line, and was thought of highly enough that he received a $3.85 million bonus just to sign a three-year contract. Fanene can keep the signing bonus, but he is not among the team’s plans anymore, the Patriots cutting the 30-year-old Tuesday in a slightly surprising move. Read more
