Colts issue statement on Manning's surgeries

The Indianapolis Star reports after weeks of information, and in some cases misinformation, trickling out about QB Peyton Manning's offseason surgery on his left knee, the Colts issued a statement Friday to clarify the situation. Manning had surgery July 14 to remove an infection from his left pre-patella bursa. Asked on Thursday if it was staph, he replied, "It was, yeah, just because of the fluids that were hanging in there. I just had one infection. "So it was the first surgery to remove the staph infection of the bursa sac. Once they took it out, the infection was gone." A follow-up operation approximately two weeks later was not due to continued or additional infection, according to the team, and did not delay his return to the practice field.
