Colts issue statement on Manning's surgeries
Indianapolis Colts10/25/2008 8:36 AM The Indianapolis Star reports after weeks of information, and in some cases misinformation, trickling out about QB Peyton Manning's offseason surgery on his left knee, the Colts issued a statement Friday to clarify the situation. Manning had surgery July 14 to remove an infection from his left pre-patella bursa. Asked on Thursday if it was staph, he replied, "It was, yeah, just because of the fluids that were hanging in there. I just had one infection. "So it was the first surgery to remove the staph infection of the bursa sac. Once they took it out, the infection was gone." A follow-up operation approximately two weeks later was not due to continued or additional infection, according to the team, and did not delay his return to the practice field.
