Griese, Ayanbadejo out of Bears' picture

The Chicago Sun-Times reports the Bears got something for one veteran and got over another one as the organization assessed a whirlwind of activity four days into free agency. Hours before they were going to cut QB Brian Griese, the Bears shipped the veteran quarterback to Tampa Bay for a sixth-round draft pick in 2009. Then the club bid goodbye to two-time Pro Bowl special teams player Brendon Ayanbadejo, pulling a four-year contract offer that he had had for some time. Griese, who will receive a $300,000 roster bonus today from the Buccaneers, winds up back where he was before he signed with the Bears two seasons ago. Read more
