Colts make Clark 'franchise' player

The Indianapolis Star reports the Indianapolis Colts confirmed Tuesday night they designated TE Dallas Clark their "franchise'' player. That's tantamount to a one-year contract worth the average of the league's top five tight ends in 2007: $4.522 million. The team also reached agreement on a long-term contract with starting OG Ryan Lilja, one of several Colts in line to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the month.
