Atlanta coach Thomas awaits Hall of Fame announcement
Atlanta Falcons02/02/2008 7:56 AM The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports Falcons assistant head coach Emmitt Thomas planned on spending this weekend at home, not doing much. Perhaps, he'd get a call Saturday telling him he made the Pro Football Hall of Fame. But Hall of Fame Vice President of Communications Joe Horrigan called Wednesday and asked Thomas to make the trip to Phoenix, where the 2008 class will be selected, "just in case." "I'm nervous now," Thomas, 64, said. "I was kind of anxious, but now I'm nervous." Whether Horrigan's late invitation is a positive sign won't be known until voters finish debating who makes the cut. Regardless, just being nominated, "is one of the greatest things to ever happen to me," said Thomas, who was nominated, along with Marshall Goldberg, by the Hall's Senior Committee. Read more
