This wasn't Parcells' first dalliance with Falcons

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports Bill Parcells is no stranger to taking the Falcons to the wedding altar and then running away. Just call him the runaway-football coach/executive. Back in 1987, Parcells' agent Robert Fraley got the Falcons, then owned by Rankin Smith Sr., to give him a $900,000 offer. Parcells was making only $325,000 and coming off a victory over Denver in Super Bowl XXI. The only problem was that Parcells was under contract with the Giants through 1988, and commissioner Pete Rozelle ordered that the negotiations cease. Parcells and Fraley ended up working out a new, lucrative deal with the Giants. Read more
