Smith will test shoulder Wednesday

Beyond that, there are increasing questions about his future. The 49ers on Monday dismissed an item on foxsports.com that suggested they are looking to pull the plug on the final two years of Smith's contract. A three-sentence blurb over the weekend said "there is a good chance" that the 49ers won't pay the quarterback an $8 million option bonus in March, as a way of getting out of Smith's contract for 2009-10.
