The Pioneer Press reports RB Adrian Peterson still has a good shot at an NFL rushing title and the team's single-season rushing record. He has some catching up to do, though, if he hopes to break Eric Dickerson's NFL rookie mark of 1,808 yards. With a league-leading 1,081 yards, Peterson, who is expected to return for Sunday's home game against Detroit, would need to average 143.4 in the final five games to match Dickerson's 1983 record. That's 23.3 yards more than Peterson has averaged in the nine games he's played, but he needs to average just 88.0 yards to reach the team single-season mark of 1,521 set by Robert Smith in 2000. Peterson also is on track to become the first Vikings back to lead the NFL in rushing. He has a 75-yard edge over second-place Willie Parker of Pittsburgh, who has 88 more carries. Read more
