Westbrook, Dawkins among grounded Eagles
Philadelphia Eagles10/01/2007 8:08 AM The Trenton Times reports the Eagles found themselves backed into a corner long before the opening kickoff against the Giants last night at the Meadowlands. Four starters with a total of 11 Pro Bowl appearances between them -- RB Brian Westbrook, FS Brian Dawkins, CB Lito Sheppard and left OT William "Tra" Thomas -- did not play due to injury. TE L.J. Smith, still recovering from Sept. 16 groin surgery, also was inactive for the second consecutive week. Westbrook strained an abdo minal muscle during last week's lopsided victory over the Detroit Lions and began the weekend leading the NFL in total yards from scrimmage with 514. Read more
