Raiders and top pick work toward a deal
Oakland Raiders09/08/2007 1:42 PM The San Francisco Chronicle reports Raiders officials met face-to-face in Oakland with representatives for QB JaMarcus Russell on Friday, with one source saying they were "close" to getting the No. 1 overall draft pick signed. Russell's agent flew in from Scottsdale to meet with team officials in hopes of ending the stalemate before Sunday's season opener. Both sides worked into late Friday night to settle their differences over a contract that's believed to be worth $61 million over six years. Read more
