Jones ready for Jets' debut
New York Jets09/07/2007 9:42 PM The Star-Ledger reports the Jets know they can't beat the Patriots solely on the arm of QB Chad Pennington. They think they can do it on the legs on RB Thomas Jones. Jones, who rushed for more than 2,500 yards in the past two seasons with the Bears, wrapped up his first week of practice yesterday since suffering a strained right calf injury on Aug. 12 and all but proclaimed himself fit for action. "Hey, this is what I signed up for," said Jones, who was given a four-year, $20-million contract extension by the Jets that included $10 million guaranteed. "I'm just glad to be here. ... I'm feeling a lot better. The trainers have done a great job of getting me back on the practice field. We'll see how I feel on Sunday. "We're very excited. We had a great week of practice. Our coaches have done a really good job of preparing us for the game and making sure we know what we're going to see on Sunday." Read more
