New contract for Fisher is high priority
Tennessee Titans02/17/2007 9:54 AM The Nashville Tennessean reports with a new general manager on board, now the Titans are expected to crank up their efforts toward signing HC Jeff Fisher to a long-term deal. And with free agency starting March 2, it makes sense to get the matter resolved as soon as possible. Free agents would certainly like to see some stability in the organization, and a head coach with only one year left on his contract offers no guarantees. In December the Titans exercised the option on Fisher's contract, keeping him in place for 2007 at a salary of roughly $5.3 million, and negotiations are in progress. Despite multiple reports to the contrary, talks between Fisher and the Titans have been positive, and there are indications the two sides are getting closer to a deal that would lock Fisher up for several more years.
