Furrey almost signed

The Detroit Free Press reports the Lions have reached a deal with WR Mike Furrey and are expected to announce it today. They are not close to a deal with defensive lineman Cory Redding, but coach Rod Marinelli sounds like he will not let him go. Furrey and Redding raised their stock considerably in 2006. Furrey led the NFC in receptions with 98 after having caught only 21 passes in his NFL career. Redding had eight sacks in 11 games after moving from end to tackle. Both are to become unrestricted free agents March 2. Marinelli said Tuesday morning the Lions were "crossing T's and dotting I's" on a contract extension for Furrey.
